Bhikkhuni Sucinta was born in Germany and was educated as a psychologist. After working in the field of research psychology for two years, she became disenchanted with the limits of psychology as a means to help people. She became interested in Buddhism in 1986. She saw it as a deeper, more useful means of addressing the problem of human suffering. In 1991 she traveled to Sri Lanka, Amaravati Monastery in England, and to Bhavana to explore the possibility of becoming a nun. She was given Samaneri ordination by Bhante G in 1994. With Bhante G's permission, she received higher ordination in Bodhgaya, India in Feb 1998. She returned to Bhavana and stayed until the end of 1998. She received further training in Burma and has served in a variety of settings.
